70/70 HOROVITZ PROJECT opening

Today, Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 Barefoot Theatre Company kicks off the year-long festival - 70/70 Hovoritz Project on Israel Horovitz's actual 70th Birthday. The celebration is hosted by the Bleecker Street Theatre and will include an evening of free drinks, food, music, artwork display and a reading of Horovitz's newest dramas, Sins of the Mother.

The reading will be directed by acclaimed director Jo Bonney and feature Barefoot's Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano alongside Bobby Cannavale, John Doman and Michael Stuhlbarg with stage directions read by Monique Carboni. Extra special thanks to everyone at the LAByrinth Theater Company for their help and support in this event.

Barefoot has Open Rehearsals...




A rehearsal of Beirut Rocks by Israel Horovitz was presented to students of FDR High School at Brooklyn College by the Barefoot Theatre Company. The rehearsal featured the first half of the play that was first developed / produced by Barefoot Theatre Company in January of 2007 as part of Israel Horovitz's New Shorts.

Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano who originated the role of Jake took on the role of Benjy while Literary Manager, Stephen Gracia read the role of Jake.
The rehearsal was lead and directed by Barefoot Associate Director, Michael LoPorto who directed the original production followed by Jo Bonney at the Ensemble Studio Theatre Marathon that featured Francisco Solorzano.
Reading stage directions was Barefoot's Director of Outreach, Susanne Bruno.

barefoot welcomes

Christopher Whalen, Company Manager (member since 2004)
Susanne Bruno, Director of Outreach

Christopher Whalen currently lives on the west coast but was last seen with the barefoot theatre company here in New York City in November of 2008 for our first ever bareNaked Reading Series.

Susanne Bruno was most recently seen in the bareNaked Reading Series weekend with works by students from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, Long Island. She will next be seen in Stephen Gracia's new play being featured at our upcoming bareNaked on March 10th.

Mark Cisneros appeared in the workshop production of Stephen Gracia's NEXT! directed by Michael LoPorto.
