70/70 Horovitz Project continues with Project # 5 - Barefoot At The Cherry Lane Theatre: five free readings every Monday in June of Horovitz's Gloucester Plays.

This coming Monday, June 1st features Horovitz's Captians And Courage directed by Rob McIntosh and featuring: Luca Pierucci, Charles Everett, Etai Klein, Jose Rivera, John Harlacher, John Gazzale, Ronald Cohen, Amber Bela Muse, Lisa Melita French, Dan Graff, Ruben Luque, Mack Exilus, Lily Patricof, Aidan Kunze with stage directions read by Susanne Bruno

Project # 5 coming soon!!!

June 1st will be the first of five consecutive Mondays that we, the Barefoot Theatre Company takes residence at the prestigious Cherry Lane Theatre. The readings of five of Israel Horovitz's Gloucester Plays will kick-off with Horovitz's adaptation of Kipling's Captains Courageous. The reading of Captains and Courage will be directed by long time Barefoot family member, Rob McIntosh and will feature the Barefoot Theatre Company along with some special guest artists. Curtain is at 8pm. Admission is FREE but reservation is a must due to limited seating: barefootrsvp@aol.com. Barefoot at the Boston Theater Marathon XI


The Barefoot Theatre Company was invited once again to collaborate with the Gloucester Stage Company, Eric Engel, Artistic Director; Israel Horovitz founder - to participate in the Boston Theater Marathon for the fourth time.


This year we presented Project #4 of our 70/70 Horovitz Project with Horovitz's newest piece, What Strong Fences Make directed by Israel Horovitz along with Robert Walsh featuring Barefoot Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano along with Sean Meehan.

What Strong Fences Make was originally presented as a reading and developed during Project #2 (Mid-East Pieces (in) Process) on April 15th (the Bleecker Street Theater) and on April 17th (Iona College in New Rochelle). The piece featured Solorzano and Barefoot memeber Joseph Sousa under the direction of Associate Director, Michael LoPorto.

Following the success of Project# 3: Dance With Me on Saturday, May 9th - we present the newest entry in the 70/70 Horovitz Festival.

If you find yourself in Boston this Sunday, May 17th - be sure to check us out with Project# 4 of the 70/70 Horovitz Project. Barefoot Theatre Company collaborates once again with Gloucester Stage Company in bringing a short play by Israel Horovitz to the Boston Theatre Marathon.

What Strong Fences Make was first featured and had its world premiere as a reading in Project #2 (Mid-East Pieces (in) Process) on April 15th directed by Associate Director, Michael LoPorto.

Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano returns to the role he originated. Sean Meehan takes on the role originated by company member Joseph Sousa.
Be sure to check back for pics on Project#3 as well as Project# 4 after this weekend. And keep your eyes and ears open for Project# 5 which will bring the Barefoot Theatre Company at The Cherry Lane Theater for the month of June.

Francisco Solorzano...

Producing Artistic Director, one of its founders, Francisco Solorzano, gets honored by the Graduate Theater Organization of Brooklyn College, CUNY with the Alumnus of the Year Award this Tuesday, May 12th at the Gershwin Theater

Also honored that evening: Jules Fisher & Peggy Eisenhauer, accepting the Alfred Drake Award and Linda Herring accepting the Theater Alumna of the Year Award along with: students from the BFA, BA, MFA, and MA programs in Theater. May 12, 2009, 6:30pm-8:30pm: On the stage of Gershwin Theater, Brooklyn College Campus, Brooklyn, NY 11210.

Celebrate Mother's Day with Ballroom Dancing and the Barefoot Theatre Company.

Cocktails, Food, Live Music, Fantastic Auciton Items and a ballroom dance lesson lead by World Champion Ballroom Dancers, Pierre Dulaine and Yvonne Marceau!!!

All proceeds from this event go towards the support our the Barefoot Theatre Company, a volunteer non-profit organization.

Here's a sneak peak at Dance With Me: project # 3 of our 70/70 Horovitz Project. The event reading of three short plays by Israel Horovitz, directed by company member Pamela Seiderman will take place on Saturday, May 9th, 8pm at the American Ballroom Theater - official sponsor and host of project # 3.

The evening will featuring a ballroom dance lesson lead by ballroom champions Pierre Dulaine and Yvonne Marceau!

The three plays: The Marriage Play, The Audition Play and Acrobats features Barefoot Theatre Company members: Will Allen, Anna Chlumsky, Mark G. Cisneros, Maia Sage Ermansons, John Gazzale, Ruben Luque, Victoria Malvagno, Lorraine Rodriguez and Anika Solveig with special guests Lynn Cohen (seen in Barefoot's Israel Horovitz's New Shorts, bareNaked Reading Series) Ronald Cohen (seen in Barefoot's bareNaked Reading Series) and Sean Neeley.

Live Music by : Mindy Cassale & George Kormendi.
