NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS (new plays)

Barefoot Theatre Company is now accepting submissions for the 2015-2016 bareNaked Reading Series. We are looking for new, unproduced plays that are ready for an audience. Barefoot plays offer a multicultural perspective and are truthful, raw and entertaining. Since its founding in 1999, Barefoot has produced over 75 productions, workshops, and readings, with collaborations from some of the world's most esteemed actors, directors, and artists.

The bareNaked Reading Series plays monthly at the West Beth Artists Community in the West Village. The event includes live music, free drinks, and a professional presentation of the play directed by a notable director and performed by the Barefoot Ensemble. 
 Previous series collaborators include Adam Szymkowicz, Greg Paul, Mariah MacCarthy, Ben Snyder, Amina Henry, Mike Reiss, Richard Kind, Anna Chlumsky, Lynn Cohen, Colbie Minifie, Hilary Bettis, Mel Nieves, Mando Alvarado, Jose Rivera, Jennifer Skura, Craig 'muMs' Grant, and Israel Horovitz, among many others.

WHO'S WHO IN THE CAST


GABE FAZIO - is from Holtsville Long Island, where heattended Suffolk Community College.  From there, he went on to study at The New School For Social Research andreceived an MFA, in 2000. Gabe is a member of the Actors Studio, and the Barefoot Theater.  He is a resident actor at the Long Island Shakespeare Festival.

RAYE LEVINE -  is an NYC based Actress and Producer. She completed the 2-year Meisner training program at the William Esper Studio under Barbara Marchant and continued training with Bill Esper, Nancy Mayans and Deb Jackel. She performed in a reading of THE VOTE IN ORANGE as part of an awards ceremony for the insignia of Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres on Playwirght Israel Horovitz from the Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy, along with Kevin Kline, Bobby Cannavale, Judith Ivey and Angelina Fiordellisi. Raye is an Ensemble Member of the Barefoot Theatre Company and has performed with Barefoot in staged readings including  PARKSLOPEPOUND FOR POUNDON THE 5:31 by Mando Alvarado, directed by Jerry Ruiz, RESTLESSNESS OF DESIRE by Kristina Poe, directed by Shira-Lee Shalit, PIRATE by Jennifer Skura, directed by Molly 
Marinik, FINALLY, a new short by Israel Horovitz at the Calderwood Pavillion as part of the Boston Theatre Marathon. As part of the Barefoot Theatre Company's 15th Anniversary Gala & Awards Ceremony, Raye performed in DOG DAY AFTERNOON directed by Francisco Solorzano, and VICTORY GIRLS by Kristina Poe, directed by Michael LoPorto.  Raye holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Cooper Union. She is a competitive-level figure skater and member of Ice Theatre of New York. 

FRANCISCO SOLORZANO - for the past 15 years, Francisco has produced, directed, acted with and led the Barefoot Theatre Company as Producing Artistic Director / Co-Founder from Off-Off Broadway to become a critically acclaimed and award winning NYC and LA Ensemble. Most notably onstage, Francisco adapted, directed and acted in the critically acclaimed/sold-out Off-Broadway world premiere of DOG DAY AFTERNOON (Theatre Row Theatres). Francisco has also been known for his leading role in Israel Horovitz's two-act drama SINS OF THE MOTHER (alongside Ethan Hawke, Chris Cooper, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Stuhlbarg). Most recently, acted in and co-produced two short films with Barefoot Studio Pictures, THE GIRL WITH THE JACKET written and directed by Caitlin FitzGerald and FLOATING SUNFLOWERS (also dir.) w/ Anna Chlumsky, Lynn Cohen & Christopher Whalen. Collaborated on award winning revivals, NY and World Premieres with some of the most prolific companies including: LABYRINTH THEATER COMPANY, RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER, FLORIDA STAGE, GLOUCESTER STAGE CO., ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATER, STELLA ADLER THEATER, THEATRE ROW THEATRES. BFA in Acting: CUNY'S Brooklyn College; Recipient of the Graduate Theater Organization of Brooklyn College, CUNY's Alumnus of the Year Award. Currently splits his time between his home in Brooklyn, New York and Hollywood, CA.

 
JENNIE WEST - began performing at a young age most notably singing private audience for former first lady Bess Wallace Truman. Jennie is an ensemble member of Barefoot Theatre Company (appearing in numerous productions, workshops and readings) and a regular performer in the Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) ongoing series. Past roles include "Babe" in Balm in Gilead (Barefoot) and "Alma Weinmiller" in Eccentricities of A Nightingale (The New School). Recent roles include “Quellz” in Fucking Vigwan by Kristoffer Diaz (Barefoot Theatre Co.) and "Hope" in Franklin Stein. Most recently appeared as "Amanda" Off-Broadway in It's Just Sex. 



CHRISTA WROBLEWSKI - New York City: Eye Spy (INTAR American Nightcap), Bird on A Wire (Dixon Place), Service Dogs (PTP/NYC), As You Like It, There Are Crimes and Crimes, Birthday Triage (Columbia University MFA Directing). Regional:Dracula, A Christmas Carol, Halfway, Sleep Rock Thy Brain (Actors Theatre of Louisville), A Midsummer Night's Dream, Two Gentlemen of Verona(Shakespeare in the Valley). Education: B.A. Muhlenberg College.  









GREG PAUL (Playwright) likes to write about things that are unseen and unexplained. Some of his plays include: WAIT (2008 Seven Devils Playwrights Conference); The Point of Deviance (Macaulay Honors College’s International Symposium on Surveillance Societies); Goblin Universe, (The Alley Theatre/Louisville KY and semi-finalist for the 2011 National Playwright’s Conference); The Lady’s Child with composer Lisa Dove (NYU/Playwrights Horizons Theatre School); The Amazing True Adventures of Buckbean Bushytail with composer Lisa Dove (Jalopy Music Theatre, Special Music School); Wetiko (2014 Seven Devils Playwrights Conference) . He is a founding member of Juggernaut Theatre Company and The Northern Light Opera Company in Park Rapids MN, which has produced a number of his plays for children. He teaches playwriting at NYU/Playwrights Horizons Theatre School as well as play production at Baruch College, Greg is an alumnus of Ohio University.

JOLI TRIBUZIO (Director): first had the privelage of working with Barefoot on the critically acclaimed stage adaption of Dog Day Afternoon.  Joli played Deborah and Angie and also served as assistant director.  Most recently Joli had the pleasure of reading opposite Francisco Solorzano in Mel Nieves' one act play Between a Hot Dog and a Hard Place at Barefoot's annual Gala.  Joli just completed work on the comedic series Thug Passion to be released in 2015 and also enjoys work as an improvisor having completed a nine year run as Tina in the Off Broadway production of Tony N Tina's Wedding and continuing to work as an actor and teaching artist in NYC public schools with the Family Life Theatre.  An Associate Director at Barefoot Theatre Company.
