I love Barefoot Theater Company. I started working with Barefoot 4 years ago when I had just flown back from shooting a documentary in Angola with fellow barefooter Joseph Sousa. It was the perfect landing. The members were talented, passionate, intelligent, curious, fearless, interesting, interested, hardworking, did I mention talented? The opportunity to be a part of a theater company like Barefoot has been a blessing and an honor. Since joining the company I have worked on several projects and am currently in Los Angeles working on Joseph Sousa's Teeth of the Sons which opened Barefoot's Barenaked reading series in New York and had a subsequent production in Porltand, OR. So really, what I'm trying to say is that Barefoot is pretty bodacious, ferocious, tenacious, and other -ciouses that you will soon find out.

The Barefoot Theatre Company has been such an amazing experience for me. When i was in 7th grade they invited me to join them in their production of nine new short plays by Israel Horovitz. This was the beginning of of my new life as an actress. Though I was already in a performing arts school, doing these plays seemed to set my intentions of becoming an actress in stone because never before then had i experienced the thrill of being in a real show!

Later this week and next Love Simple, a romantic comedy featuring Barefoot Thetare Company Producing Artistic Director Francisco Solorzano, Advisory Board Member Israel Horovitz and company member John Harlacher with Barefoot family members Patrizia Hernandez; written and directed by Mark von Sternberg is going to be playing at the Victoria Film Festival in British Columbia, Canada (http://www.victoriafilmfestival.com).
Israel Horovitz's Sins of the Mother featuring Barefoot Theatre Company Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano will open tonight at Florida Stage. The full-length play was been workshopped and developed by the Barefoot Theatre Company as well as LAByrinth Theater Company and Gloucester Stage Company for the past several years. This production is also part of Barefoot Theatre Company's 70/70 Horovitz Project which opened with a reading of the play directed by Jo Bonney and featured Bobby Cannavale, Michael Stuhlbarg, John Doman and Francisco Solorzano. The reading took place at the Bleecker Street Theater on March 31st, 2009. Be sure to check out our facebook page and website for more info.
