Ensemble Member, Patrizia Hernandez

New Ensemble Member, Patrizia Hernandez appeared in the feature film, Love Simple written and directed by another Ensemble Member - Mark von Sternberg.  The romantic comedy also featured Ensemble Members, Francisco Solorzano, John Harlacher and Advisory Board Member Israel Horovitz.

PATRIZIA HERNANDEZ

Patrizia Hernandez hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico and has spent her life shuffling between that tropical island and the concrete jungle that is New York City.  Her love of acting began in fifth grade when she was cast as the Earthworm inJames and the Giant Peach.  Patrizia graduated from New York University/Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.  She received a Best Actress nomination from the Feel Good Film Festival in Los Angeles (http://www.fgff.org/) for her starring role in Love Simple which also screened at film festivals in New York City and Orlando, Florida.  VARIETY wrote of her "shy charm" and SELF magazine proclaimed her a "breakout actress" and a "must watch star".  The Latin market took notice of one of their own and she has been interviewed by Univision, Cara a Cara, and 1440AM radio.  Patrizia's television credits include the pilot Possible Side Effects, written and directed by Tim Robbins opposite Ellen Burstyn and Josh Lucas and an episode of Law & Order, opposite Alana de la Garza and Jesse L. Martin.  Her most recent theater credits include Beirut Rocks and 6 Hotels: A Suite, both written and directed by Obie award winner Israel Horovitz

Ensemble Member, Luke Leonard

...continuing our celebration of newest Ensemble Members - we welcome Luke Leonard who has appeared in numerous Barefoot Theatre Company productions including our 40th anniversary revival of Lanford Wilson's Balm In Gilead directed by Eric Nightengale.

Ensemble Member, Alona Dadiani

Here's a closer look at another one of our newest members, Alona Dadiani.  Before moving to the West Coast - Los Angeles to be exact - Alona resided in New York and appeared in our American Playwrights Festival back in 2003.  Most recently Alona joined Ensemble Members, Victoria Malvagno, Dedra McCord-Ware, Francisco Solorzano and Christopher Whalen in our West Coast presentation of 6 Hotels by Israel Horovitz for the 70/70 Horovitz Project.  We are proud to have her join our family of artists.

ALONA DADIANI
Alona was born in Israel and at age nine moved to New York.  Alona earned her BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at The Atlantic Theatre Acting School, founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy. During her time at NYU, Alona took the opportunity to study theatre abroad in Dublin, Ireland’s Trinity College at the Samuel Beckett Theatre.  With a minor in English Literature and Irish Studies, Alona forayed into the world of fitness - a natural progression, by all accounts! (She did have an athletic background with penchants for soccer and long distance running). Alona is currently certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine with specialties in Sports Specific Training, Integrated Flexibility, Nutrition and Prenatal Training. For the time being, she is proud to be earning her living as a devoted private trainer. Alona holds a background in Modern Dance and choreography and had the chance to showcase both theatre and dance elements in the NYC Fringe Festival. She also had the privilege of bringing Frank McGuniess’ play ‘Carthaginians’ to NYC’s Irish Arts Center after her time in Ireland. In her spare time, she’s a budding mountaineer, an amateur documentary maker, avid runner, reader, essayist (but mostly essay reader)! writer and part time fundraiser for Beyond Shelter, a non-for-profit organization helping establish education and financial aid to homeless families throughout Los Angeles.

a little good press...

Here's an interview where Barefoot Theatre Company got a mention for their work.

From an interview of Louis Salamone, Owner/Creative Director, Theatres at 45 Bleecker.

"There are these kids who rent with us—the Barefoot Theatre Company, a small nonprofit who are the smartest kids off the block, I think, turning Dog Day Afternoon into a play. I feel the problem is smart stuff can’t advance because of the way Equity has things set up."
