Francisco Solorzano...

Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano will next be seen in 70/70 Horovitz Project's Project #4 at the Boston Theater Marathon XI on Sunday, May 17th. Solorzano will be seen in the role he originated in the short play, What Strong Fences Make which had its world premiere in Project # 2 (Mid East Pieces (in) Process) on 4/15 @ Bleecker Street Theater (official sponsor and venue for the 70/70 Horovitz Project.)
Playwright, Israel Horovitz will direct his short play which will also feature Sean Meehan alongside Francisco Solorzano and fight choreography by Robert Walsh. Stay tuned for dates on open rehearsals for this project! And join us for Project # 3 on Saturday, May 9th at the American Ballroom Theater featuring the Barefoot Ensemble and special guests Lynn Cohen, Ronald Cohen and Sean Neely.

in just 2 weeks...Dancing with the Stars...

Of the Barefoot Theatre Company...
Project # 3 of 70/70 Horovitz Project featuring Lynn Cohen (Spielberg's Munich, Sex and the City, The Public Theater's MacBeth) alongside real-life husband Ronald Cohen. Also featured in this evening are Barefoot Theatre Company members Anna Chlumsky, Will Allen, Mark Cisneros, Maia Sage Ermansons, John Gazzale, Ruben Luque, Victoria Malvagno, Lorraine Rodriguez, and Anika Solveig and special guest artist Sean Neely!

The short plays presented that evening (readings/staged): Acrobats, The Marriage Play, & The Audition Play will be directed by Barefoot Theatre Company member Pamela Seiderman.

The evening titled, Dance With Me, will consist of a festive evening of Ballroom Dancing, Live Music, Drinks, and a Silent Auction with some really cool items!!!!

Live Music featuring Mindy Cassle and George Kormendi.
A Ballroom Dance lesson will be taugh by World Champion Ballroom Dancers and Barefoot Theatre Company Advisory Board Members: Pierre Dulaine and Yvonne Marceau.

Co.Member, Anika Solveig at the Guthrie


Company Member Anika Solveig recently returned from Minneapolis where she performed in a sold out production of By the Bog of Cats at the Guthrie Theater with Frank Theatre Company.


Anika will next been seen in Project #3 of the year-long, world-wide festival celebrating Israel Horovitz's 70th birthday with 70 of his plays - 70/70 Horovitz Project on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at the American Ballroom Theater.

Project # 2 a success!


Thanks to all who came out and showed their support in our Project #2 of the 70/70 Horovitz Project with Mid-East Pieces (in) Process featuring four short plays: Security, A Mother's Love, Beirut Rocks and the world premiere of What Strong Fences Make.
Performances took place on Wednesday, April 15th at 70/70 Horovitz Project's Official Venue, The Bleecker Street Theatre and on Friday, April 17th at Iona College in New Rochelle.
We hope to see you at Project #3 which will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the American Ballroom Theater with short plays featuring Lynn Cohen and company member Anna Chlumsky and more!

Co-Founder Nicole Haran at 70/70

Barefoot Theatre Company was proud to have co-founder Nicole Haran and husband Sean Haran as guests of our Red-Carpet, Opening Night Event for the 70/70 Horovitz Project.
Nicole Haran directed Barefoot's first ever production in 1999, Lyle Kessler's Ophans featuring Francisco Solorzano and Michael LoPorto as well as co-directing Women and Wallace by Jonathan Marc Sherman with LoPorto. She also directed Lanford Wilson's Home Free! with company members, AnaMaria Correa and Francisco Solorzano at the 78th Street Theatre Lab prior to forming the Barefoot Theatre Company with Michael LoPorto, Victoria Malvagno and Francisco Solorzano.
Nicole Haran is a graduate of CUNY's Brooklyn College along with her fellow founders.

70/70: Project #2 THIS WEEK

Here are some rehearsal pics of Mid-East Pieces (in) Process which is Project # 2 of our 70/70 Horovitz Project. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 15th at our year-long, world-wide festival's official venue: the Bleecker Street Theatre - and on Friday, April 17th at Iona College in New Rochelle in New York. Company member, Christopher Whalen is a graduate of Iona College and returns to the role of Benjy in Beirut Rocks which he originated with fellow company members, Kendra Leigh Landon and Francisco Solorzano in January 2007 at Theatre Row Theatres under the direction of Barefoot Associate Director, Michael LoPorto.

Also returning to roles they originated are: AnaMaria Correa as Sharmi and Gil Ron as Bashir both in A Mother's Love. The oringal workshop of both A Mother's Love and Security was developed by Barefoot with Israel under the direction of company member Pamela Seiderman.

Join us on Wednesday, April 15th - performance will be followed by an Audience Talk-Back with the cast, director and playwright, Israel Horovitz.

Joining the ensemble are company members, Charles Everett and Joseph Sousa with guest artists, Tala Ashe and Danelle Eliav. Danelle was last seen with Barefoot in the bareNaked Reading Series Weekend at Bleecker Street Theatre in November of 08.

The evening will also feature costumes by company manager Victoria Malvagno who also costumed the original productions as well as originated several roles. Original sound once again by Danny Mordujovich.

70/70 Horovitz Project (project #2)

On April 15th & April 17th we present four short plays by Israel Horovitz as part of the year-long, world-wide festival 70/70 Horovitz Project.

The plays include Security and A Mother's Love, developed and originally produced by the Barefoot Theatre Company in 2003 - company members who originated their roles return: Gil Ron and AnaMaria Correa.
Also in the evening is Beirut Rocks with three of its original cast members and Barefoot company members, Kendra Leigh Landon, producing artistic director, Francisco Solorzano and company manager, Christopher Whalen.
Joining the ensemble: Danelle Eliav, Tala Ashe and Barefoot company members, Charles Everett and Joseph Sousa. Presented in the evening is the reading of Horovitz's latest short play, What Strong Fences Make which will have premiere at this year's Boston Theatre Marathon in a collaboration with Barefoot Theatre Company and Gloucester Stage Company. Directing this event is Barefoot Associate Director, Michael LoPorto.

On Wednesday, April 15th the event will take place at the Bleecker Street Theatre (official venue of the 70/70 Horovitz Project) at 8pm; $10 cash only at the door followed by a presentation on Friday, April 17th at IONA College in New Rochelle, 7pm; free admission. click on poster for more details. 70/70 HOROVITZ PROJECT opening a success!


On March 31, 2009 we presented the opening night, red-carpet event to our 70/70 Horovitz Project (a year-long, world-wide festival celebrating Israel Horovitz's 70th birthday with 70 of his plays.)

The evening featured the reading of Horovitz's new drama, Sins of the Mother directed by Jo Bonney and cast of Bobby Cannavale, John Doman, Michael Stuhlbarg and Barefoot Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director, Francisco Solorzano.
The attendance to the event featured nearly 300 guests of friends, family and colleagues of Israel Horovitz's and the Barefoot Theatre Company.

On March 10th we presented the reading of our very own Literary Manager, Stephen Gracia's full-length drama, Mohammed's Radio at the Bleecker Street Theatre. The reading was directed by Associate Driector, Michael LoPorto and featured live music by Al Pist (acoustic punk). Drinks were provided by Bean Post Pub.

The reading featured company members: Anna Chlumsky, Jeremy Brena, Will Allen, Jospeh Sousa, John Harlacher, Susanne Bruno, and guest artists John Weisenburger, Stephanie Kokinos, Vincent Ingrisano, Jay Rivera, Jen Boutel, and Joli Tribuzio. Stage directions were read by company member, Charles Everett.
