ROCKAWAY (who's who) TREVOR EXTER - musician

Playing LIVE Music for our 7pm presentation of ROCKAWAY today at the Cherry Lane Theatre...

TREVOR EXTER
Trevor Exter makes music for nighthawks and dreamers. Mixing Brazilian pop, American soul and restless rock energy with an itinerant vision all his own, his songs travel far and burrow deep. Born in Ithaca, NY, he always played different things but kept coming back to the cello. He sits with the cello and sings, but he plays it weird – like a tiny bass or a big ukulele. He also hits it sometimes.

HAVE YOU RVSP'd yet?  YOU should - barefootrsvp@aol.com - TWO CHANCES ONLY to lend a helping hand by attending (2pm & 7pm).  The event will feature FREE COFFEE sponsored by STARBUCKS and Cookies courtesy of Milk & Cookies.  Here's a close look at who's leading the cast of barefoot ensemble members and special guests on 12.18.12 event benefiting Hurricane Sandy Victims in the Rockaways via Rockaway Plate Lunch Truck -

GINA GERSHON
Gina Gershon has enjoyed a successful and diverse career in entertainment, earning acclaim as a film, television and stage actor, as a singer/songwriter/musician and most recently as an author.

Gina recently was seen in the dark comedy independent film, KILLER JOE, directed by William Friedkin. Gina is currently filming the indie THE LOOKALIKE in New Orleans with Justin Long.
Gina recently shot an episode of the new Mark Maron Series for IFC.

Gershon’s prolific film career began when she landed her first speaking role with a memorable turn in John Hughes’ box office hit “Pretty in Pink.” In addition to her breakout roles in Paul Verhoeven’s “Showgirls” and the Wachowskis’ “Bound,” Gershon has appeared in such films as “Red Heat” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Cocktail” opposite Tom Cruise, John Sayles’s “City of Hope,” Robert Altman’s “The Player,” the John Woo blockbuster “Face/Off” opposite John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, and Michael Mann’s Oscar-nominated “The Insider” with Al Pacino and Christopher Plummer. Gershon was also in Richard LaGravenese’s "P.S. I Love You" opposite Hillary Swank and Taylor Hackford’s “Love Ranch” opposite Helen Mirren.

On television, Gershon has appeared in three different series for HBO, “How to Make It In America,” Danny McBride’s “Eastbound & Down,” and Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Other notable credits include Denis Leary’s FX series “Rescue Me”, a 3 episode arc on ABC’s “Ugly Betty”, the CBS mini-series “Sinatra,” the TNT original movie "Legalese”, David E. Kelley’s action detective drama “Snoops,” and the Lifetime miniseries “Everything She Ever Wanted”.

Gershon made a huge splash on Broadway, receiving rave reviews as the Italian flight attendant Gabriella in the 2008 Tony Award-winning revival of “Boeing Boeing.” She returned to the stage starring in the first-ever Broadway revival of “Bye Bye Birdie.”  Additional stage credits include a 2001 starring role as Sally Bowles in Sam Mendes’s Broadway revival of “Cabaret”, the stage plays “Camille” opposite Kathleen Turner and Jon Robin Baitz’s “The Substance of Fire” (both at the Long Wharf Theatre).  As a founding member of the New York-based theater company Naked Angels, Gershon has appeared in numerous productions with the company. Gershon also appeared in the original production of William Mastrosimone’s “Nanawatai,” which opened the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

Having always enjoyed singing and songwriting, Gershon’s musical career blossomed with the independent film “Prey for Rock & Roll,” receiving critical acclaim for her role as singer/guitarist Jacki. Gina sang live and wrote for the soundtrack. Her powerful turn as a rock performer in this project led Gershon to star in the IFC documentary “Rocked,” which followed her on the road touring with the indie rock band Girls Against Boys. Gershon’s musical career continues to thrive with her latest CD “In Search of Cleo,” a compilation of original songs with a unique sound that mixes country, rock and jazz. Additionally, Gershon has also played Jew’s harp on recordings for Herbie Hancock, the Scissor Sisters, Rufus Wainwright and Christian McBride. Gina’s book “In Search of Cleo: How I Found My Pussy and Lost My Mind” was released in October 2012, whose audio book includes music by Gershon and Christian McBride. Her previous book “Camp Creepy Time,” co-written with her brother Dann, was optioned by Dreamworks.
