NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS

Barefoot Theatre Company
is currently in search of new and provocative contemporary plays for our upcoming season of readings and workshops. Barefoot is committed to fostering playwrights and supporting new work: past works developed with Barefoot have been seen at LAByrinth Theater Company, HERE, Florida Stage Company, 59E59 Theatres, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Boston Theatre Marathon, Gloucester Stage Company, Theatre Row, and The Cherry Lane Theatre, among others, as well as published by numerous publishers including Samuel French Play Publishers, Inc.

Our bareNaked Reading Series presents a new play each month at our intimate loft performance venue. The 2012-2013 series includes plays by Joe Pintauro (RAFT OF THE MEDUSA), Mike Reiss ("The Simpsons"), Mando Alvarado (BASILICA), Trish Harnetiaux, Hilary Bettis, and Dwayne Yancey.

Note: we are not a production company; we are a collaborative ensemble of actors, directors, playwrights and designers looking to develop and produce new works with playwrights.  We are interested in scripts that are completed or near completion and have rarely been seen or heard in front of an audience.

When submitting your play, please be sure to include the following:

1. Brief synopsis, including production and development history
2. Character breakdown
3. An updated bio with current contact info

Please send submissions to program director Molly Marinik: mollymarinik@gmail.com.

Thank you for your interest in Barefoot Theatre Company!

Based out of NYC and now LA, Barefoot Theatre Company was founded in 1999 by a multicultural group of artists determined to produce vital, thought-provoking works, both new and existing. We embrace the importance of the collaborative process, nurture our ensemble commitment, and continue to learn from the younger generations we mentor.

Barefoot’s resident playwrights include the award-winning Israel Horovitz and Joe Pintauro, and emerging playwrights Jennifer Skura, Jonathan Libman, Michael Reyes, Tyler Fascett, Trish Harnetiaux, Joseph Sousa, Tim Plaehn and Jason Furlani.
