A Note From Co-Founder Nicole Haran

Hello Friends of Barefoot,

I can’t tell you how inspiring it has been to witness and take part in what we, the Barefoot Theatre Company, have accomplished in this amazing year! As many of you know, Barefoot Theatre Company led the 70/70 Horovitz Project this past year, an unprecedented world-wide celebration of Israel Horovitz’s 70th birthday.  Here’s what happened: over 100 productions, produced in over 25 countries, bringing together more than 50 theatres, performing Israel’s work.

As Israel said during the 70/70 Closing celebration on March 31: “It’s been a year that went far beyond what could have been imagined and it continues to go on and on and on and none of it would have happened if it were not for Barefoot Theatre Company.”

It’s this kind of dedication and action that draws me in and compels me to want to be a part of Barefoot’s Company. In fact, the enthusiasm is irresistable! That’s why actors like Lynn Cohen, Austin Pendleton, Bobby Cannavale and Michael Stulhbarg keep coming back to perform to packed houses all over New York City.

As for the future, Barefoot has proven that nothing is impossible. I am priviledged and honored to be a part of the Barefoot family and am certain of one thing: we can all look forward to innovative, powerful theatre in 2010 and 2011 as we bring new plays into the foreground. Our 2nd annual bareNaked Reading Series is around the corner with some exciting new plays by emerging and established playwrights.

Thank you all sincerely for your loyalty and interest in the Barefoot Theatre Company.
Looking forward to a great year ahead,
Nicole Haran (Founding Member)
ps. Soon we will announce our newest members and hope you will join us in a celebration to welcome them!
