NoPassport theatre alliance launches 30/30 US Latin@ play festival
with multiple readings across the US

An initial line-up of organizations has been announced that will participate in 30/30, a national festival of readings of new work by US Latin@ playwrights to be held between February and May 2014. 30/30 is an initiative of NoPassport theare alliance and press (OBIE-Award winner Caridad Svich, founder) with collaborating producer Dominic D’Andrea (Producing Artistic Director, The One-Minute Play Festival, #1MPF).

Playwrights that are part of the 30/30 line-up are Mando Alvarado, Elaine Avila, Anna Capunay, Ed Cardona Jr., Mariana Carreno King, Raul Castillo, Cecilia Copeland, Fernanda Coppel, Migdalia Cruz, Cynthia DeCure, Amparo Garcia-Crow, Anne Garcia-Romero, Michael John Garces, Rogelio Martinez, Oliver Mayer, Irma Mayorga, Michael Mejias, Julian Mesri, Alejandro Morales, Carlos Murillo, Matthew Paul Olmos, Marisela Orta, Carmen Pelaez, Christopher Oscar Pena, Tatiana Suarez-Pico, Carmen Rivera, Marco Antonio Rodriguez, Elaine Romero, Edwin Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, Tanya Saracho, Charise Castro Smith, Candido Tirado, Caridad Svich, Andrea Thome, Martin Zimmerman, Enrique Urueta.

Among the theaters that will be presenting plays are Repertorio Espanol, Flux Theatre Ensemble, Dramatic Question Theatre and Pregones Theatre in New York City, eSe Teatro, UW/Hansberry Project, Cornish College of the Arts and W.E.T. in Seattle, Teatro Vista, Teatro Luna, Sankofa Theatre and Halcyon Theatre in Chicago, CaraMia Theatre in Dallas, DNAWORKS in Santa Fe, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Additional presenting venues will be announced in the near future.

30/30 US Latin@ national reading scheme is part of NoPassport theatre alliance and press’ ongoing commitment to collaborative theatre actions that began with The Way of Water initiative launched in 2012, wherein Caridad Svich’s play The Way of Water was read at more than fifty venues around the world to mark the two-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill disaster. Other reading schemes since then have included Spark (also in 2012) and Gun Control Theatre Action and 24 Gun Control Plays in 2013.
